When you arrive at Pen-y-bryn, we will welcome you at your car and offer to help you bring your belongings into your guest room. Once you are settled in, we will offer you a beverage and a tour of the lodge. If you are dining with us, we will confirm your preferred dining time and schedule your pre-dinner canapé service. If you are not dining with us, we will offer help with dinner reservations and offer you an evening drink before you depart for your evening activities.
If you are both dining with us and also attending the evening viewing of the Oamaru Blue Penguin Colony we will offer the option of interrupting your dinner to allow time for the penguin viewing, which takes place at dusk.
Before you retire for the evening, we will ask you when you prefer to have your breakfast in the morning. Breakfast is normally served starting at 8am, but if your travel or tour requirements dictate an earlier breakfast time, we are happy to adjust this to suit your needs.
During your stay with us, you will have full use of all facilities in the lodge, free and unlimited ultra-fast broadband internet access and complimentary soft drinks, tea and coffee. As a guest of Pen-y-bryn you may also use our small fitness room (equipped with rowing machine, stationary bicycle and a selection of weights) at your convenience. We also offer laundry services and assistance with booking tours, activities and massage treatments, along with a host of other services. Whatever you may require, we are only too happy to offer assistance to make sure your time with us is as effortless and enjoyable as possible.
We know that with the ongoing global pandemic, people who would like to travel are concerned about cancellation policies. Please be assured, that in the event that any of our guests’ plans to stay with us are disrupted by changes in the Covid-19 travel restrictions imposed either by the New Zealand government or your own government, we will waive any cancellation penalties that would normally be payable. Furthermore, if you have had to cancel and wish to rebook your stay with us, we will honour the original rate associated with your cancelled booking for up to one year after the original check-in date.
