Oamaru has a new Restaurant

October 9, 2021

Dishes at Restaurant 1861

The Oamaru dining scene has just got a bit broader with the opening of a new restaurant in the north end of town. Restaurant 1861 is housed in Casa Nova House, Oamaru’s oldest stone building, which was recently purchased and restored by Katrina and Brenda, a couple who relocated to Oamaru from Auckland (where they run a successful restaurant) after they fell in love with our charming town. Restaurant 1861 offers a tapas-style menu offering a wealth of delicious dishes that are meant to be shared, so expect to order between two to three dishes per person (depending on your appetite). A short drive from Pen-y-bryn, this is an excellent option for an evening when our guests opt to dine out rather than enjoying dinner at the lodge. Open for dinner Wednesdays through Saturdays for dinner, lunch on Sundays.
