Gourmet Cuisine

Evening dining is a highlight of any stay at Pen-y-bryn. As members of both the Slow Food Movement and the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, we take the preparation and the presentation of our meals very seriously, and pride ourselves on serving seasonal, local and healthful foods. Much of the produce comes from our own gardens, and what we cannot grow ourselves we source from local and sustainable farms. Meats and seafood generally come from within a 100km radius of the lodge.

As a small lodge with only five rooms, we present our meals table d’hôte style, so it is essential that we know of any dietary restrictions or preferences in advance of your arrival, since there is no à la carte menu to order from. We can cater to all dietary regimes, including (but not limited to) vegetarian, gluten-free, low-salt, dairy-free or Halal diets. Please note that while we can serve kosher foods, our kitchen is not certified kosher. Guests generally sit together at our large tables in the elegant dining room, with a fire blazing in the background during cooler weather. A private dining area is also available for guests wishing a more romantic or exclusive dining environment. In order to maintain a tranquil dining environment, we reserve the right to refuse children below the age of 13 to dine in the lodge dining room. If you are celebrating a birthday, anniversary or other special occasion, please let us know and we’ll be happy to make your meal something truly memorable to help mark the event.
