Whether a romantic dinner for two or just dinner for a group of friends, Pen-y-bryn offers a unique dining experience you will never forget


Guests at Pen-y-bryn gather for cocktails and canapés in the evening, enjoying a sampling of lodge-made dishes that are sure to whet your appetite for a delicious meal to follow. Most of our guests choose to dine in for at least one of their nights with us (advance booking is essential) enjoying a "table d'hôte" meal, with your hosts preparing a menu using seasonal produce from our own gardens, or from local producers. Please advise us well in advance of any dietary restrictions you may have. We are happy to prepare vegetarian, gluten-free, or dairy-free menus on request. 

Pen-y-bryn is also open for dinners for groups of up to 30 to come and experience the luxury of a bygone age while enjoying fine cuisine. We strive to offer a personal chef service, with meals designed to appeal to our guests' particular palates. Pen-y-bryn focuses on Mediterranean cuisine, with dishes that reflect the tastes and styles of Italy, France, Spain, Greece and Morocco, but we also occasionally delve into Latin American, Eastern European and of course more traditional Kiwi fare. However, we aim to provide our guests with a meal that will suit their taste, so if you have any particular culinary interests, no matter what they may be, we are happy to craft a menu to suit. 

For non-resident dining we offer both three- and four-course dinner options. The three-course dinner comprises starter, main course with side dishes, and dessert, while the four-course includes a further pre-dinner canapé course with a complimentary glass of wine and a post-dinner cheeseboard. Contact us for pricing information. Dinners are generally served "dinner party" style, affording guests an opportunity to meet fellow travellers from around the world, and if conditions permit, your hosts will also join you for the meal. Private dining is available upon request.

Because all our meals are prepared to order, and we provide a genuinely personal service tailored specifically to each guest, bookings are essential and cancellations must be made no later than 24 hours before your event.
