Oamaru is located on the East Coast of the South Island of New Zealand, half-way between Christchurch and Queenstown. Christchurch is a comfortable three-hour drive north of Oamaru, and Queenstown is three hours inland. Mt Cook is a two-hour drive with Dunedin an hour south. Air transfers from Christchurch, Queenstown and Dunedin can be arranged by request.
